Description from Nat’s website: “Creative JumpStart is a one-of-a-kind community event to jumpstart your creativity in 2018. The Theme this year is “Now We’re Cooking: Mixed Media Art Recipes”. We’re heading into the kitchen of creativity for this one: the Mixed Media studio! Join our crew of Mixed Media Artists and Crafters as they grab their aprons, favorite tools of the trade, and share with their own original recipes for a mixed media masterpiece.”
Here is a $5 off special code that Nathalie is providing us. The code is cjs5runaway – valid through 12/31/17. I will be leading a bi-monthly gathering, where we have permission to project a couple of the videos on our projector. You will need to sign up and be able to show that you did signup for Creative JumpStart by showing me your email receipt. The cost will be $8 per person for 3 hours.
We will watch 1 or 2 of the videos, depending on their difficulty. I will walk us through the techniques demonstrated on the video. Runaway will provide craft mats, water bins, spray bottles, stamps, ink pads, and scissors. You will bring 1-3 art journals and your art journaling supplies. This is a very special opportunity that Nathalie has offered us to view videos and work together. Let’s get inspired and create some beautiful art together!

Runaway is pleased to bring Nathalie Kalbach, author of Artful Adventures in Mixed Media – Art and Techniques Inspired by Observation & Experience. Although now living in New Jersey, Nathalie is a native of Germany who has taught classes in mixed media art applications around the world. She has more than a decade of teaching experience and has designed products for StencilGirl®, Stampendous®, RubberMoon® and Art Foamies®. We are very happy to bring her to Runaway to teach three of her mixed media classes in December.

Stroll Through the Hood – Home Decor Class Saturday, December 2 @ 9 am to 12:30 pm $75
Let’s create a beautiful little wall hanging for your home, office, or beyond!
We will begin by creating a colorful, patterned background. Then we’ll take it further by adding scenery using stamps, graphite, paints and other supplies. Finally we will add detail and highlights to pull the landscape together.
We will be working on Ampersand® Clayboard which offers a special and exciting surface to create your Mixed Media work on.
Master Art Express – Art Journaling Saturday, December 2 @ 2 pm to 5:30 pm $75
Imagine you could take a trip through Europe and at each stop one of the many masters of European art would materialize and invite you to explore their art to implement into your art journal. Let’s take this imaginary trip together and explore different European artists at each station, taking their artwork as an inspiration for mixed media techniques and colors.
We will discuss why some things work and why some things don’t work and will solve the little “problems” that sometimes occur while creating art. Work with acrylic paints, acrylic inks, different tools and materials and gain a deeper knowledge about the versatility and possibilities of your art materials. Let the travel itself be part of the journey and take the elements of art in to push your own art journaling style just a notch further.
Artvergnugen – Art Journaling Sunday, December 3 @ 10 am to 5:30 pm $130

Runaway is celebrating the sun’s return from its disappearing act during Monday’s eclipse with a “Bring Back the Sun” Clearance and Stockroom Sale from Wednesday, August 23 thru Sunday, August 27.

You won’t know what you’ll find, since we barely know what we have! That stock room has been hiding all kinds of gems and now you have a chance to play! We are cleaning out to make room for lots of new products – including Halloween, fall and holiday.
Come by to see what Asa, Clavell and Jessica are up to while Christy and Emily enjoy their vacation with “Mr. Christy,” Bethany and Nana (the family is headed to Disneyland so Bethany can see Pooh Bear and all the other characters she loves). And you can help them empty the store while you visit!
